Preparing for Treatments
When you have had your comprehensive laser consultation and have been informed that you are suitable for laser eye sight correction, you should prepare for the treatment using the following guidelines:

Contact Lens Wearers
If you wear contact lenses, leave the lenses out prior to treatment.

Type Removal Schedule
Soft Contact Lenses DO NOT WEAR for 1 week
Rigid Lenses DO NOT WEAR for 3 weeks
(unless instructed by our Optometrist)

Organising Your Time Off

For LASEK: You may not feel up to working for a couple of days, therefore you should take at least 2 days off work. Make sure you have a supply of standard painkillers at home e.g. Cocodamol (Paracodol ®, Solpadeine ®)

For LASIK: As there is little or no pain with LASIK and the vision stabilises more quickly, patients normally only require the day after treatment off.

If you have young children at home, we suggest that you arrange for someone else to look after them.

Important Notes for Day of Treatment

• Allow around 2 hours in the clinic for your eye treatment.

• As it will be difficult to wash your hair without shampoo getting in your eye for the first couple of days, you make wish to wash your hair on the morning of the treatment.

• Please do not wear make-up, deodorant, perfume or aftershave on the day of treatment.

• Excimer laser sight correction does not involve having a general anaesthetic, so you can eat regular meals as normal. Likewise you will not be required to change your clothes.

• You will not be able to drive after treatments so if possible bring a friend or relative with you.

• Before treatment you will be further familiarised with the treatment and be asked to read and sign a consent form.
